Edinburgh Waverley again was the place to be as the newly reliveried 37670 (St. Blazey TMD) in DBS red was heading up the luxury Northern Belle tour from Edinburgh to Oban. This was the perfect opportunity for DBS to highlight how splendid the red livery looks on the veteran Class 37's. 37419 has also been painted in this new livery but unfortunately was still being repaired and 37670 was paired with 37401 an old friend from the Caledonian Sleeper, The Royal Scotsman and various railtours.

The smart new livery which adorns 37670 is in sharp contrast to the tatty EWS livery that it had worn previously which although a good livery in itself, was showing its age on 37670 after a year or two in open storage. It shows just how well thought of these veteran locomotives are to be picked for this repaint. They can still be found working frieght and passenger trains (as shown here) on some of the most tortuous routes including the West Highland Line were 670 was destined for. 37670 was teamed up with 37401 which was still in the EWS livery (every time the author has seen 37401 it seems to be a locomotive which brings the rain!). An Eastfield Terrier or an Inverness Highland Stag would be an exciting addition to the new DBS livery.
