Hornby Shark Brake Van

Model Pic 1Model Pic 2

This is a model of the Shark Brake Van. The Shark Brake Vans were used the length and breadth of the country by civil engineers to plough ballast. They were common in short and long engineers trains and could often be found stabled in large yards or single sidings on remote branch lines.

This model is available in several liveries (EWS example featured here). One of the key features of this model is that it has NEM couplers. Detail is well represented and intricate and overall it looks the part. Livery and transfers are printed to a high standard. As can be seen from the photographs, the ballast ploughs are very realistic.

This model is ideal if you have a small layout. If you model a small depot (see pictures) or perhaps a small station will fit in nicely stabled in a short siding or perhaps a bay platform.

The superb Shark Brake Van will also prove popular for modellers with larger layouts. One idea is to couple the Shark (next to the loco) at the head of a long rake of Seacow or Dogfish.

The Hornby Shark Brake Van is a fantastic model with finely detailed parts and overall great livery and transfer applications. It would be a welcome addition to any layout based on any region, large or small.
